Julie Burr Senior Research Analyst Ms. Burr has been engaged with ASR since 2014 in a number of different capacities including intern, community partner, and now ASR team member. Julie is a public health professional with a varied background in finance, research, writing, project management and community organizing. Her areas of experience have primarily been focused on the prevention of chronic disease, community violence, and addressing systemic inequities. Her passion lies in working towards equity and thriving for all through individual and collaborative action. She received an associate’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting from Cabrillo College, and her bachelor’s degree in Collaborative Health and Human Services from California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB). In 2014-2015, Julie interned with the Santa Cruz County Youth Violence Prevention Network (YVPN) and helped co-author Turning the Curve: Youth Violence Strategic Plan for Santa Cruz County. Since graduation, she has worked as a Research Analyst with the Institute for Community Collaborative Studies at CSUMB, and as the Community Impact Coordinator for YVPN at the United Way of Santa Cruz County. In her role with YVPN, she organized the multi-sector collaborative network in addressing community needs and implementing activities that promoted the inclusion of youth and community voice in public safety efforts. With ASR, Julie has supported a variety of projects across the greater Bay Area including community assessments, homeless point-in-time counts, program evaluations and strategic planning. Julie continues to stay connected to the California Violence Prevention Network (CalVPN) , currently serving as one of the Network’s Administrators. She was also an active alumni and practitioner coach with the Radical Transformational Leadership Program in the Bay Area for seven years. Her other research interests include community trauma and healing, women’s health, civic engagement, food security, criminal legal system reform, racial equity and other issues impacting social injustice. < Back Julie@appliedsurveyresearch.org

Jordan Katti, PhD Project Manager II Dr. Jordan Katti joined the ASR Sacramento location in 2019. As a project manager, Dr. Katti has contributed her expertise on a variety of projects, primarily with organizations that support the healthy development of young children and their families. She is an expert in project management and implementation, as well as in data collection and analysis, with both qualitative and quantitative methods. She particularly enjoys working on projects that include racial equity, positive parenting, and the prevention of child abuse and neglect. Dr. Katti earned her PhD in developmental psychology with a minor in statistics from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. She specializes in infant and toddler development, especially among historically underserved populations. After completing her graduate program, Dr. Katti joined the University of Michigan-Flint as a postdoctoral research fellow investigating the impacts of the water crisis on young children living in Flint. Her research has been presented at multiple national conferences, including the Society for Research in Child Development, and it has been published in peer-reviewed journals, including Infant Behavior and Development. Outside of work, Dr. Katti is an avid Michigan football and basketball fan (Go Blue!) and enjoys spending time with her young daughter, husband, and dog. < Back Jordan@appliedsurveyresearch.org

John Connery Senior Project Manager Before becoming a full-time employee, John Connery was involved with ASR for many years. He devoted much of his early time with ASR assisting with the homeless census and survey. Now he applies that experience by contributing a great deal of work and insights around homeless issues. John joined ASR after a career as a summer camp director. He brings to the team his years of valuable experience with children and young people. John attended the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he majored in sociology. View Full Report Executive Summary Homelessness Assessments In 1999, ASR pioneered a methodology to help county and municipal housing authorities conduct their point-in-time (PIT) homeless assessments. ASR’s methodology has been cited as a best practice by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Every two years, ASR conducts between 10-14 PIT counts for various locales in the Western United States. ACEs, Mental Health, Substance Use and Wellbeing Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) such as witnessing violence, experiencing neglect or abuse, or losing a caregiver have been shown to have long term impacts on education attainment, mental health, substance use, health status and longevity. Elizabeth Mower (Martinez), MA Project Director Elizabeth Mower was born and raised in the Sacramento area. She received her Masters Degree in Sociology from the University of Nevada, Reno. Ms. Mower is a valuable asset to the ASR Sacramento team, with many years of experience working in research and program evaluation to support initiatives in early childhood development, child health and safety, school climate, student wellness, behavioral health, substance abuse prevention, mental health intervention, and community needs assessments. With an advanced knowledge of statistical analysis and data visualization, her goal is to make data accessible for various audiences to help organizations obtain actionable insights. She is committed to supporting data-driven decisions to improve community outcomes. She has passion for the work, the analytics, the collaboration, and the process to create change and improve the lives of under-served and vulnerable populations.
